Philosophical Approach & Course Content
Luna has worked with dance educators since 1994, and provided leadership development to dance teacher educators through two year-long projects in 2013 and 2015. The goal of professional development from a teacher education perspective is not to replicate a specific teaching method, but rather to learn from expert practitioners to develop experiences that allow all learners to thrive in creativity and understanding of themselves through dance. The purpose of the Your Turn project is to provide theory-to-practice pedagogy to future dance education leaders. In this workshop, you will read, talk, speak, practice, lead, reflect, teach, give and receive feedback. The course content includes the following:
Learning Theories & Instructional Practices
Constructivism
Human Development
Cognition
Motivation
Universal Design for Learning
Syllabus Development
Creating an Arc of Learning
Embedded Assessment
Backward Design
Critical & Personal Pedagogy
Reflective Practice
Underlying theories
Evidence-based practice
