Luna Kids Dance Camps 2026

Full-day camps allow 8-11 yr olds to embrace their identities as dynamic dance makers and build community with new friends. Creative dance lessons, improvisation games, solo & group choreography building, lunch at the park, and visual art practice will compromise the rhythm of their day.  

No prerequisite.

Session 1: Inspiration and Sources 
June 22 – June 26 (5 days) 9am – 3pm

Professional choreographers often use writing, drawing, photographs, and the environment as source material for their movement. In this camp, students will work with the elements of dance to practice taking a literal interpretation of source material into the wondrous world of the abstract! The depth of abstraction and the source material explored will be based on developmental age. Through deconstruction and reconstruction students will explore ways of responding to different pieces of source material as they dive deeper into what inspires them. 

 

Session 2: Sounds Rhythm and Words 
July 6-10, 9am-3pm (5 days)

The body is an incredible instrument. In this camp students will explore ways of generating sounds and rhythms with their bodies, taking inspiration from spoken word, song, body percussion, everyday noises, and even nonsensical sounds! Students will discover how making sounds with their bodies can unlock new movement potential. Using the elements of dance, this camp will guide students to find ways that sound, rhythm, and words can be used to compose dances. 

 

Session 3: Spaces and Places
July 20-24, 9am-3pm (5 days)

$585

Dance lives in many unique and distinct spaces and places. Students will dive into the element of space, exploring site-specific dance, stage space, and imaginative space, inside and outside of the studio. What places are meaningful to us? How do we choreograph with a sense of place? This camp will guide students into seeing the spaces and places around them in new and inspiring ways.
