As dance educators, we engage in rigorous research every day but don’t always have the tools or time to synthesize our findings or share it with others.

Action Research legitimizes practitioners’ knowledge by providing a methodology to collect, synthesize, and articulate their experience. It is a systematic study of teaching practices centered on observation and discovery, crosses disciplines, and supports creative and conscious teaching.

Over 11 weeks in a seminar format, this advanced-level online course brings together teaching artist scholars to learn how observation and reflection-in-action strengthen anti-biased teaching; learn the principles and theories of Action Research; and plan, implement, and present a small study based on individual interests.
